About Dr. Lauren
I am a Scranton native. I grew up in the Hill Section, went to elementary and middle school in Green Ridge and graduated from Scranton Prep. I completed my undergraduate work at Penn State, where I was an Evan Pugh Scholar and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. I then returned home, where I received my Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Psychology from Marywood University.
In addition to my work at HAZZOURI PSYCHOLOGY, I am founder of NOT THERAPY—an educational emotional wellness program I created to address the unique mental health concerns of girls and women. NOT THERAPY draws from the most effective elements of western psychology and eastern philosophy to deliver proven solutions for navigating life.
I have been named one of the “Top 5 Women in the World Inspiring Girls” by German Glamour and my work has appeared in publications including Teen Vogue, Forbes and British Vogue. I’m an international public speaker, known for making a memorable appearance; as in my private practice, I often incorporate the latest evidence-based information with personal anecdotes, music and dance. I’ve shared my message at events hosted by Girlboss, Beautycon, Gurls Talk, Her Campus, Girl Up and Heymama, among others.
I am a member of both the American Psychological Association and The Pennsylvania Psychological Association and have received numerous awards and honors for my work, including The Psychology in the Media Award by The Pennsylvania Psychological Association.
